[Squalicum Marina, Bellingham, WA]
49° North Marine will be closed through January, 2026. Relocating our shop, sailing the Inside Passage to Alaska this summer, and our inability to find help while away precipitated the temporary closure.
We recently changed our name to 49° North Marine, and no, we didn’t move one degree farther north. The change became necessary after we were notified that our name overlapped with 48° North, a long-established sailing magazine. Although we operate as a manufacturer rather than a publication, the name similarity in the "marine" space caused confusion for their readers and prompted them to protect their IP. Given their three decades+ presence in the industry and our measly seven years, we agreed to make the change without a fuss. Besides, they're owned by Northwest Maritime, which does so much for the industry and I whole-heartedly support them (think Wooden Boat Festival, Port Townsend Maritime Academy, Race to Alaska, etc).
We will be checking email at our old and new mailboxes cs@49northmarine.com and as soon as we have a re-opening date, we'll post it here. We'll continue to update content on snubberhead.com to educate folks on anchor snubbers and bridles.
Thanks to our many customers over the years - we appreciate your business very much and enjoyed getting to know many of you. See you online soon.
Safe travels,
Doug
